You can never know everything, and part of what you know is always wrong. A portion of wisdom lies in knowing that. A portion of courage lies in going on anyway.

Looking for a fantastic fantasy author? Well look no more! Today, we’re talking with author David Green to learn about his writing world.

David Green: Writer of Dark Fiction
What advice would you give to new authors?
To keep writing! Don’t stop, try new things, new genres, new structures until you find what works for you. Perhaps your voice is best suited to a different POV than what you’ve written so
far? The other thing is to show people your work! Find beta readers who’ll give
you honest feedback, it’ll only help improve your writing.
What is your ideal writing environment? Do you have to have certain elements
in place to be in “the zone”?
I can write anywhere, which is good as I don’t have a specific place to write! So I switch between the kitchen, my couch, the bed, the car… anywhere! I do listen to music though, I try to play a playlist that suits the mood for what I’m writing. I can’t write in silence!
What author have you found to be most influential on your works?
Robert Jordan is my all-time favourite, and I study his use of foreshadowing in
particular, but I wouldn’t say my style is like his. Jim Butcher and Joe
Abercrombie are touchstones; particularly how Abercrombie uses a tight third
POV with lots of character and his short, punchy sentences.
If you could, what day or memory would you like to re-live? Tough one… as a
big Manchester United fan, I don’t think I celebrated enough when we won the
Champions League back in 2008, I’d like to make more of that, if I could!
What highly popular trend are you not on board with or obsessed with?
TikTok has completely passed me by. I downloaded the app after being told how useful
and vibrant it is in the writing community, but I haven’t used it yet. The
prospect scares me. Perhaps I’m just getting old…
